From the internet;
And for the most-asked question of the day, 'When is this coming out on DVD?' Well, fathers, you're going to be very lucky. It's coming out on Father's Day weekend, so mark your calendars.
Father's Day is celebrated on the third Sunday of June in the United States, which this year puts it on June 20th. Since DVDs are released on Tuesdays, though, then you can expect it to actually be in stores on one of the Tuesdays that occur in Early June (the 1st, 8th or 15th). Once the studio formally announces the title, we'll have a specific street date for you.
In the meantime we can tell you that this will be available both on standard DVD for $79.98, and also on Blu-ray Disc for $99.98. Amazon is not taking pre-orders yet. Detailed contents, extras and package art haven't been made available yet, but stay tuned for further developments. The source for some of the above information http://www.blu-ray.com/news/.

They had a terrific premire at the National WWII museum a few weeks ago, followed by a three day showing of Band of Brothers in their massive Victory Theater. It was quite exciting. Even had a few veterans of the Pacific and Euorpean theaters there to comment and add their "two cents".

Don't want to get in a debate here... but I find it hard to name another movie/mini-series that even compares with following a frontline unit from start to finnish in WWII like BoB. Finnish movies on Winter War and Continuation War might be the only exception as they have excellent fighting sequences and day to day life soldiering in the trenches, but even they are aimed more at rah rah rah GO FINLANDIA!, then this is how it was. In my opinion we won't be able to make the BoB v. Pacific comparison until the end of the series.

I totally agree. Steven Ambrose knew what he was about and still had Winters, Speirs, Compton, Lipton, Garneire, Malarkey, Heffron, and Taylor just to name a few surviving vets who he could fall back on.

After checking other sites on the net I'm not so sure that HBO will run rhe full series for free, they may just run a episode or two to generate interest for future sales ie; DVD. The sites I checked seem to be leaning towards them only running a few episodes for free.
No matter I'm going to buy the DVD set, just as I did for BOB.:D

Still had Hollywood written all over it.

Got to watch the rerun of part 1. Pretty nice, visually appealing and historically accurate... though I don't really feel any connection to the main characters. This is probably because they jumped to the action halfway through episode one compared to the end of episode two in BoB (which had pretty satisfying character development).

Saw Part 2 last night. I liked it a lot, it's pretty good, lots of action, but I agree with Fuchs in that there isn't much character development.
Overall, it's a very good series, but I'm not liking it as much as I liked Band of Brothers. I haven't read the material on which this is based so I can't say with any degree of knowledge, but it feels like the Hollywood screenwriters have been given a little more license with this than they did with BoB. I still like it though, and will keep watching.

I believe a big part of the character development will come later- especially as we watch ugene lose his soul thhat his father worries about, and with Basilone, who is my grandfather's cousin infact, we'll watch him deal with what he just did to the japs as well as deal with parading around the USA while his friends are fighting and dieing elsewhere.
;) I know everything

The series does get better as the episodes progress and you get to watch the characters develop.
I still think that leicky guy is the best.
