Everyday we loose our veteran elders... their experiences and knowledge goes with them. Very few wrote a book or had a movie made of it. Most battles were frantic 10 minute fire fights that changed lives and history for ever. The Veterans of our wars, battles, and dirty little secret missions are slowly slipping away. I think this gentlemans' passing is but a reminder that time is fleeting and the first of two great wars witnesses will no longer be with us. As time passes and we grow farther from the history of it, we will come to the brink again... but will anyone be around that warn us or remind us of what the costs are? Will we be willing to accept the toll keepers token to see it through to a Victory.

Take a moment out thank a veteran, We all fought for the same thing; "Duty, Honor, Country." Regardless of what side they were on...

That's sad to hear. We are down to about maybe 4 left.

I was fortunate enough to meet the remaining US WW1 Vet, Mr. Frank Woodruff Buckles, about two years ago, he was a very nice man, and really had alot to say.

He's about 108 now, when I saw him he was quite the spritely old man, hopping around in his chair and fidgeting, even so at that age you can die any minuite but I think he will be with us for some few more years.

It's sad, most people nowadays really don't have an appreciation for what the Great War was like, probably the most horrible fighting and living conditions any soldiers would ever have to endure.

Yes, I served.. and proudly support those who do through the Wounded Warriors at Ft. Campbell and the USO.

Jungmann's right... the horror of WWI will never been seen again... I hope.

The last of the British WWI vets has passed on... only a week or two after the oldest survivor of the war. :(
